Anyone familiar with miami florida fishing?
snoodshooter asked:
Hey there, I will be in miami for a few days and would like to go fishing maybe on one of them. There will be 2 of us who want to fish. We are not real species specific or anything. We just want to fish for a few hours and maybe catch a few of this or that. Tarpon would be cool but not required. Does anybody have experience with a certain charter place down there? Like I said, it will be for just a few hours preferrebly and would like to spend not more than 300 dollars or so. Does this place exist? I am open to suggestions for miami fishing.

If you want to catch some MONSTER peacock bass try fishing Tropical park
You can catch some largemouth bass, Mayan ciclids and some big peacock bass. This spot is a HOT spot in Miami ( I have been many times)
Fish with either shiner minows or small rapala baits ( f-9)
Have fun

Surf fishing ( from the beach) is not allowed in Miami because locals and the gov. feel it poses a threat to people…brings in sharks. Most of the time a cop or life guard will tell you to leave.
Your best bet is to charter a 1/2 day trip with an inshore fishing guide. They are pretty reasonable and you and your buddy can split the cost of the trip. NOw check this out, if you want to do some Bonefishing or sight casting for Snook go during a day trip. You’ll have to be up early in the morning so be prepped for that. You’ll most likely hit some flats for Bonefish, Tarpon, Jacks and whatever else pops up. If waking up at the ***** of dawn isn’t you’re idea of a vacation, try night fishing with the inshore guide. He’ll most likely hit the area bridges for Tarpon and Snook…something you don’t wanna miss!
Now if you just want a mid day deal, cruise the ocean and do a little deep sea fishing, check out the local Party (head) boats. They’ll run you out there, provide the gear and bait. You can catch Kingfish, Snapper, Sailfish (winter months) and so on. It’s only about 30 bucks and you fish for 4 hours. Hint: Do exactly what the guys at the back of the boat do to increase your chances of hooking up.
Here’s a few places you can check out so call around:
Party (head Boats):
Inshore guides:
There’s a list of guides about 1/4 down to the left in a section calledonline resources. It’s all in blue, can’t miss it.
I can personally say I fished both Deep sea fishing fleets ( party/head boats) and Favor the Reward Fleet. I have fished with that fleet since I was a kid and the crew and Captain are pretty cool. Kelley’s fleet has nicer boats and better set-ups but feel too touristy for more liking. Check ‘em before every trip to see what’s biting for the day.
I hope that helps ya.
