In the St Johns Pass area- Off of Tarpon Springs Florida?

Depressed Lonely. asked:

Would it be a better bet to take a charter boat deep sea fishing tommorow June 29th or June 30th? Due to tides and moon…I want to catch some keeper grouper.
All of you guys gave me great help and always have so I am just going to put this one to voting because I do not want to pick one out of these three great answers thanks to all of you!

Tomorrow less people will be out and I prefer to fish when there are less boats and people out

I would have to go with Brandon cuz I dont know the area or any Captains there yet!
Are you planning on a head boat or private charter like 6 to 12 person boat! The reason I ask is that head boats hit reefs and wrecks so hard in the summer the fishing can be slow for bigger grouper and snappers wherever they have hit em so hard. Most head boats are just out to take ppl out to catch a deep sea fish not to get you on top of good fish!A smaller charter will try to get you on fish as long as you are on one to fish for them!As in I reccomend a charter of not less than 6 hours this is because the captains can get you out to various reefs or wrecks in the days fishing
Good luck and have a great time…….with out me,lol!

What Ingun Brandon said is totally true.

Just a FYI: You live in a great place to fish from shore. Reds, Trout, Spanish Macs, Sheephead, Flounder, Snook all taste good/fight good and you don’t need a charter to find them.

There is TONS of wade-able beaches, jettys, bridges and creeks you could be fishing. Unless you MUST taste Grouper save your money!

It’s very hard to find a charter-boat captain that doesn’t want less than $250 a half day! In my mind, $250 will buy you tons of tackle gear!

Besides, your a local! Charter’s are for the Snowbirds who have money to burn and no local fishing knowledge.

(oops! I guess I’m a Snowbird now! arghhhh!)

    Good luck!
