Best time to travel to key west?

Hey i have been planning a trip to key west for some time now.but i haven`t decided whats the best time to go.i know summer is almost over i think i have maybe missed my chance this time around.can anyone recommend a good season to go?

I wouldn’t go during the hurricane season. I think Feb. through May would be ideal.

If you can afford the winter rates, January or February are the best months to be in Key West. The rainy season here ends at the end of October. You really don’t want to visit between May and October because it rains just about some time of the day every day. The peak hurricane season is August to the first of October so you could get messed up there. However, they have announced that this year in case of storms they are not going to do mandatory evacuations of tourists days in advance like they have in the past.
If you want to get all wild like…then come for Fantasy Fest in October. Also, Derby Days are fun (the same time as the Kentucky Derby).

I would say May through July. Key West’s peak tourist time is in the winter, but it’s REALLY crowded, to the point were it is hard to get around especially if you will drive down or rent a car. There is a narrow road all the way to the island from Florida, so the traffic would be horrible. If you do go during tourist season in the winter, defiantly fly. In the summer, it is really hot, but it’s not overcrowded and all the fun activities for tourists still go on. And you wouldn’t want to go in hurricane season which starts in August. So, definitely May, June, or July.
