Live in Florida, The Keys are all about cruise ships. Alot of them dock for few hours. Crowds up area, mostly retired people, over rated. Key Largo is perfect, minus over load of tourist. You’ll find locals, get alot more choices of beaches, resorts.

Key West is where everyone goes for vacation in the keys. Key West is the biggest city of the Keys with around 30,000 people. There are alot of hotels there and resorts and lots of things to do, historical places, beaches, tours, golf etc… Also Key West has a commercial airport with service to many Florida cities and Atlanta. Key Largo commercial airport is an hour drive north to Miami.
Key Largo is a destination for divers and fisherman and boaters. Key West is more of a tourist destination as there is alot more things to do in Key West than key Largo. But Key Largo is only about 1 hour from Miami and 30 minutes from the Everglades.

Just because they both have key in there names does not mean they have any relation, Other than them haveing beaches and hotels they really are 2 totally different places with way defferent things to do on each.

If you go to the keys dont stay in a resort rent a house for a week. You can go to any realtor to find a house.

Key Largo is closest to Miami (about an hour). Key West is about 3 hours away. Key West is very expensive. It is a cool little party town. The beaches are okay but not great…

Key West is a city occupying a small island — looks kind of like a Caribbean town. Key Largo is really a barrier island — It looks like most other barrier islands: a long string of beaches, homes low rise motels resorts, with US-1 strip shopping centers down the middle.
