If You Won 100 Million Dollars, Where Would You Build Your Dreamhouse?

Bo D asked:

…please state your age, and where you are from…then state the place you’d build your dream house if cost of living was no factor…

…Switzerland? Your hometown? The Florida Keys? Hawaii?
New Zealand? Or somewhere else? You decide.

I’d invest half cuz I’m not stupid. With the 50 million I’d move to a better location get a better car and just go on living my life normally.
Money means nothing if you don’t know how to spend it properly.

Somewhere in Thailand in the forest. Isn’t it great to have good spicy food, in the wild, spot some animals etc and enjoying while surviving it?

I’m a 59 y/o Wisconsin resident. Born and bread, as they say.

Since the majority of family is in this area, I would love to get a really wooded lot about 1/2 mile off I-94 for easy access to Milwaukee. I saw a home in a wealthy suburb that looked just like a Hobbit home. I loved the design: One level, lots of rooms, set into a hill for energy efficiency. And surrounded by forest. I would need a little sunshine in the morning, but having wild animals and lots of birds around really appeals to me.

I like WI. It’s really not as cold as it used to be. We just bundle up and GO!

first, i’d invest it, get several billion, then buy and island and form my own country. of which i would be dictator, and then i could keep out all the people i wanted too.

There is a cruise ship that travels the world. You can buy a home on board. The residents vote on where they are going to go next. You can get off at any time and re-board at any port they are scheduled to dock at. It is extremely elegant and has just about anything you can imagine. If money were not an issue, that is where I’d live. I love to travel and want to see/experience as many cultures as possible.

im 21 male in texas here. id probably buy myself and my friends a nice house out in our countryside somewhere. id make it a fortress in case anyone wanted to get a lil crazy on me. prices out here are some of the lowest in the country so id have that much more to save up. after that id buy up whole communities and rent out the places for half of their former price. and hopefully that would get more folks into nice houses like mine. the more money i have the better i could help folks. maybe one day…

There are a lot of little old towns in Japan with histories going back a thousand years or more that are dying out because everyone in Japan moved to the cities and you can buy them (or parts of them) up for very little.

I’d get a swath of land with a bunch of little houses on it out somewhere in Wakayama prefecture and make that my base of operations… just sit, write, draw, paint, etc. Have Goldman-Sachs manage the vast bulk of my fortune since I’m a pretty low-footprint/low-maintenance fellow and just enjoy my existence.

I’d also buy a place in Manchester-By-The-Sea in Massachusetts, about 30 minutes north of Boston, so my parents would have a place to live in that’d be nice like they deserve close to where they live now, since they love it out there.

And I live in SF right now… maybe a little bungalow or condo here since I love it…that’d be sweet.

Male, 24. Grew up in Boston, Mass and live in San Fran.

I’m 33, and I live in Hawaii, born and raised. With that kind of money, I would definitely build me my dream home right here in Hawaii!! I’m already in paradise. Then I could also go for a trip around the world. I have 10 nationalities, and I always dreamnt of visiting each of those countries.:-)

The south of France with an orchard grove. A relaxing lifestyle by the ocean.
