Cool places and things to do in Key West FL for 13-16 year olds?

Cap’n Jack asked:

My family is going to Key West during a break in February. We are staying for 8 days. I am 13 and my brother is 16. We are renting a house and there are bicycles there and our parent are going to let us go of on our own. What are some fun things to do or places to go to on Key West?

If you have money to spend, then I would suggest the following:

The Pirate Soul Museum on Front Street, Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum, the Butterfly Conservatory (even if you don’t thrill at butterflies, there will be some cute girls there), and Fort Zachary Taylor. There are also ghost tours of the city cemetery, if you’re allowed to go out at night.

Free things to do: People watching on Smathers Beach; Fort Zachary Taylor may actually be free for people on bicycles; window shopping on Duval Street; Mallory Square around sunset — tons of street performers and musicians.
