Has anyone been to Longboat Key Florida on the West Coast?

I heard from a coworker that Longboat Key is supposed to be gorgeous with awesome beaches and plenty to do. Is this a nice place for Valentine’s day weekend? How much are the hotels? What is there to do here?? Any places you recommend? Any places to avoid? The more information the better!
