Fishing, diving, snorkeling, boating and truly anything more that involves the sea draws millions of visitors a year. As a lifelong cycle rider, Ive discovered that they one thing the Florida Keys do not offer is good cycling. The shoulders typically contain potholes or rocks which do not make for a smooth ride when cruising with thin tires. Find out more on the topic of key west fishing. Between Keys and on the smaller Keys, the bicycle lanes and shoulders often vanish altogether.

If you do not mind autos humming by you on the Overseas Road , then you could have a fine time when trekking from Miami down to Key West ( about 120 miles ). However, if hazarding your life with the less-than-stellar, salty-dog drivers of the Florida Keys appears a little wild, like this sea heaven from the comfort of your sedan. This is the main route you may use if you are travelling between Orlando and Tampa, both of which are the locations of first class theme parks like Disney World and Busch Gardens.

The I-10 runs across the north of the state of Florida. It starts in Miami and travels west thru the Everglades ( aka Alligator Alley ) till it reaches the town of Naples on the west coast. This section between Miami and Naples is a toll road. The part of the U Road one that extends from mainland Florida out along the Florida Keys is named the Overseas Road . Sorry thrill seekers, you are better off in Miami or Dawn where you’ll find the best South Florida biking.
