Florida’s Interstate Driving Routes.
Light tackle fishing. The shoulders typically contain potholes or rocks which do not make for a smooth ride when cruising with thin tires. Between Keys and on the smaller Keys, the bike lanes and shoulders typically vanish altogether. There’s a project in progress that intends to cure this situation by adding trails, paths and educational kiosks across the keys.
Getting in town Without debate, Key West is surely the most bike-friendly of all of the Keys. Florida roads consist of over eighteen thousand kms of road, of which over two thousand is a part of the interstate road system. It starts in Miami and travels west thru the Everglades ( aka Alligator Alley ) till it reaches the town of Naples on the west coast. This section between Miami and Naples is a toll road. The I-95 runs the length of Floridas Atlantic coast. Beginning from Miami, this interstate heads north thru Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Cocoa ( close to Cape Canaveral ), Titusville, Daytona Beach ( where it meets the I-4 ), thru Jacksonville ( where it meets the I-10 ), and north into Georgia. It covers a lot of the same area as the newer and wider I-95, but the route reaches to the end of the Florida Keys.
