When folk ask about the top sights to see in the south Florida area including Fort Lauderdale and Miami, I usually advise them to attempt to make some time to go down to the Florida Keys. For snorkellers and scuba divers going to south Florida, I might consider Florida Keys a must have. Once the bridge from the mainland is crossed, the change in pace is spotted instantly.

Key Largo is the main scuba diving city with many dive shops. This was a previous sea research unit that was converted to the hotel. Most addresses in the Florida Keys along the main road will essentially refer to which mile marker they are found near. It takes almost three hours to drive from Key Largo to the far end at Key West but more than likely, visitors would need to stop off at many locations along the way for shopping, photograph opportunities or simply admiring the view.

Its been declared the Florida Keys have something for everybody. Fishing, diving, snorkeling, sailing and truly anything else that involves the sea draws millions of visitors each year.

The all year warm weather and water also help the Keys stay a preferred visitor destination. Long distance riders apart from the apparent challenges of long-distance riding ( sweat, tears, sunburn ), the Florida Keys arent awfully bike-friendly for the endurance cycle rider.

For the main part, the more densely-populated Keys are provided with poorly maintained paths or tiny shoulders on the side of the road. However, if hazarding your life with the less-than-stellar, salty-dog drivers of the Florida Keys appears a little wild, enjoy this sea nirvana from the comfort of your sedan. Theres truly no reason that each traveler to the Conch Republic ( aka, Key West ) shouldnt spend a while on a bike. You can just about across the whole island in a day and biking makes it straightforward to stop at attractions on the way. A map of the island can be discovered in just about any present shop on the island or from kind people ready to rent you a bike for your visit. The snorkeling in this area, particularly Looe Key, is among the top sites in North America. The downtown area full of eateries, bars, shops and shops is a cool, fun place to be. There are hostels along the water as well as countless BBs inland. With the scooters, we criss-crossed the town and saw the fantastic colonial homes in the roads including Ernest Hemmingway’s house.
